Roller manufacturer Hamm introduced a range of product innovations during the Technology Days event in April 2024. In front of around 2,700 international guests, both in the exhibition area and during the live demonstrations, the compaction specialist presented all that the company is seeking to achieve under this year’s motto “Smarter. Safer. More sustainable.”
Premiere at the Technology Days 2024 event: The new HC 200i C VA compactor with Smart Compact enables automatic compaction to a target value in earthworks.
One of the innovations was the introduction of Smart Compact for earthworks. Smart Compact is now also available for earthworks and enables automatic compaction to a target value for compactors. The basis for this is the parameter-independent Smart Compaction Value (SCV) as well as the newly developed VA drum (Variable Amplitude), which enables continuously variable adjustment of the amplitude depending on ground conditions and the machine capacity.

In addition, the new VC drum (Vibration Crusher) with optimised tool holder system for HC series compactors was introduced. The 25 t machines allow rock and stone to be crushed and compacted in a single operation. Depending on the application, the use of VC compactors leads to considerable cost savings thanks to the reduction in material preparation and transport costs.
Both innovations – Smart Compact for earthworks and the new VC compactors – are initially available for markets with the EU Stage V/EPA Tier 4f exhaust emission standard, with other markets to follow.
For the first time, customers were also able to see the new 11 and 13 t HC 110 and HC 130 G-Tier compactors with their own eyes. Both models combine outstanding compaction power with an efficient and environmentally friendly drive. This is achieved thanks to the ECO mode, which significantly reduces diesel consumption and CO₂ emissions without compromising compaction performance. The 11 and 13 t compactors are initially available in various countries in Latin Ameria, with other markets to follow.
Another world premiere was celebrated by the 11 t HC 110 G-Tier compactor – boasting outstanding compaction power, ease of operation and optimum service accessibility.
In addition to innovations for earthworks, there are also new products and smart solutions for asphalt construction. Brand new to the product portfolio – the 12 t HD+ 120i V-VIO tandem roller. With this model, Hamm is presenting a new compaction system for asphalt construction, as the VIO drum can carry out compaction using both vibration and oscillation. In asphalt construction, the new VIO drum enables fast compaction and is suitable for a wide range of applications, especially for compacting new asphalt mixes. This is also where the advantages of the various possible combinations of both drums come into play. The front drum on the new tandem roller is equipped with a vibration drum, and the rear with a VIO drum.
For the North American market, Hamm is also presenting the HD+ 120i VIO-2 HF model. This is tailored to local requirements and combines two VIO drums that can achieve a vibration frequency of 67 Hz.
