In the picturesque mountain landscape of Big Sky, Montana, the company Ridgeline Excavation Inc. places its trust in the efficiency of the mobile Kleemann jaw crusher MOBICAT MC 110i EVO2. Roads are being built here for a new high-end residential area.
Surrounded by breath-taking nature, the US company Ridgeline Excavation crushes blasted granite and quartzite into 75–100 mm material for use in road construction. The challenging environment, at an altitude of around 2500 m and with often unpredictable weather conditions, places high demands on man and machine.
Tight spaces, not an easy surface – perfect for the compact mobile jaw crusher from Kleemann.
Work in the mountains of Montana brings with it numerous challenges. Using the track-mounted machine is downright adventurous, as access to the site is difficult, space for working is limited and weather complications such as rain, snow and sleet have to be reckoned with. All of this requires flexibility and a high performance. The mobile jaw crusher MOBICAT MC 110i EVO2 is deployed as a standalone and meets all these challenges. “The flexibility and the ability to easily move the plant to different locations in the quarry is a decisive advantage”, says Lloyd Spanners, site manager at Ridgeline Excavation.
Also due to the special surroundings: The material contains damp, sticky fines and clay, which makes processing more difficult. This is where the very effective independently oscillating double-deck prescreen with slotted grate comes into its own. The feed material is screened out effectively so that the content of fines and the material that already corresponds to the desired final grain size can be directed past the crushing chamber. A higher throughput is thus achieved and, at the same time, plant wear is reduced. The prescreen works independently of the vibrating feeder and is therefore particularly productive. ”The prescreen with its ergonomic slotted grate is really helpful in this application due to the wet, sticky material”, stresses Lloyd Spanners.
The MOBICAT MC 110i EVO2 also impresses the company in practical tests with its user-friendly technology. ”We like SPECTIVE CONNECT. The ability to view machine parameters and information from our smartphones is a practical tool”, says Lloyd Spanners from Ridgeline Excavation. The remote control makes it much easier to operate the machine. “This is very helpful in the event of bridging. The operator can then conveniently lift the crusher inlet from a distance without having to leave the excavator. This can be a particular advantage in bad weather conditions,” he adds with a grin.

Very challenging terrain, difficult material – the expectations of the plant were high. The company Ridgeline Excavation Inc., however, is extremely satisfied with the performance after the first few operations. “Thanks to its mobility, the plant is very easy to move around the site. It also copes very well with the very sticky material we process here. On top of that, the consumption values are really manageable at approx. 19 litres diesel per hour. The machine enables us to work efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner” emphasises Lloyd Spanners. And: “The support provided by the Kleemann service team was consistently professional,” says the entrepreneur.
