HC Series soil compactors for China. Efficient compaction and future-proof design

Made in Langfang as a German-Chinese co-production

Since 2014, HAMM compactors have been produced in Wirtgen Group’s Langfang factory. The new HAMM compactors of HC Series have been developed exclusively for China. A German-Chinese engineering team combined numerous strong features that are typical of HAMM, such as the modern design, unique visibility, good handling and compaction performance with the specific needs of the Chinese market. The resulting compactors stand out for their modern technology, high productivity and quality compaction. They combine German quality standards with a very attractive price-performance ratio. On top, HAMM offers several options.

Reliable engine and unique cooling system

For exceptional compaction performance, all nine models use a highly efficient Cummins engine. Its rated output is 154 kW. The engine complies with the MEE IV specifications and works fuel efficient. The cooling air is fed in from behind the operator´s platform and sent out at the rear. This innovative cooling system leads to an optimized air supply and an increased lifespan of the power packs. It also prevents hot air from reaching the operator´s platform.

Ergonomic operator platform for higher productivity

HAMM compactors come with an ergonomically designed operator platform and operator seat for complete all-round visibility and a high degree of comfort and safety. By design, the machine features unrivalled visibility particularly to the rear, the tires and surroundings. Thus the operator has a clear and unrestricted view of all areas around the machine for more safety on the building site. The compactors can be equipped with a cabin, with heating and air conditioning as an option. Alternatively, they are available with a canopy. In both cases, a spacious platform provides ample legroom and allows individual adjustment of seat and steering wheel. Typical for HAMM, a user-friendly operating panel features a clearly designed information display and intuitive operation with international symbols. Displays for engine RPM and drive speed are standard equipment for the Chinese market. The HAMM Compaction Meter for quick information on compaction progress can be added optionally. Also as an option, High Power LED working lights for best visibility are available.

Homogeneous weight distribution and more thanks to 3-point articulation

The Hamm compactors are equipped with a 3-point articulated joint that offers outstanding driving and steering characteristics. With its 3 joints, the Hamm solution is unique on the market. It guarantees unsurpassed directional stability and driving comfort. The chassis design ensures homogeneous weight distribution on drum and wheels – even at full steering angle. Moreover, the compactors can effectively absorb impacts, also in uneven terrain. Tilting when driving along curves is no issue, either.

Hammtronic and ECO mode support reduction of CO2

Increasing price pressure, rising fuel prices and the need to protect the environment make efficient and economical machines urgently necessary. With the Hammtronic, HAMM´s electronic machine management system, and the ECO mode, the single-drum rollers of the HC series meet exactly these requirements. So, Hammtronic is standard in all compactors of this series. It enables optimised load distribution leading to tremendous gradeability and low fuel consumption. It adjusts the diesel engine speed to meet the power requirements of the individual drives. A highly efficient ECO mode enables fuel savings of up to 20 % and the reduction of CO2 and noise emissions. As an option, the models of HC series also offer manual traction control to transfer the torque just like required.

Numerous drum options and drum drive

The Chinese HAMM single-drum rollers of the HC series offer a constant high compaction performance, regardless of whether they are equipped with a smooth drum or padfoot drum ("P" models). Customers who need both types of drum can use the optional padfoot shell kit, consisting of three segments. It enables easy conversion of the smooth drum to a padfoot drum, making it ready to compact cohesive soil. The "D" models (HC 208i D, HC 228i D and HC 268i D) have a drum drive, such as the models with padfoot drum (HC 208i P, HC 228i P and HC 268i P). This drive helps to scale gradients of up to more than 60 % with confidence.

Easy service

When it comes to maintenance, the Langfang-made HAMM compactors are easy to handle because of their engine that is freely accessible from all sides. Thus the service is fast and uncomplicated. The hood opens towards the operator´s platform via gas springs.
