Vocational Training as a Design mechanic in steel and metal engineering (m/f/d) at KLEEMANN

The perfect start to your career

Using your craft skills, you machine sheet metal plates, profiles and pipes and join them according to specifications in the production drawings to form complete steel constructions. The focus of your activity is on preparatory work in steel construction including riveting and welding using a very wide range of processes and post-processing ready for assembly. You produce high-strength connections, which represent an indispensable quality feature, manually or with the help of highly modern welding robots.

Brief overview

Start of training: September
Duration of training: 3.5 years
Prerequisite: good Certificate of Secondary Education, GCSEs
Subsequent place of work: production, welding shop, fitter's shop, assembly

During the three and a half years of training, comprising an interaction of vocational school and company training, your instructors will prepare you for your subsequent career. Centred around a company training plan, you will spend time in different departments.

Furthermore, we offer company-internal instruction that accompanies the vocational school training (incl. English) to prepare you for examinations and later professional life.

If you perform well, we can offer you a take-over if the company situation permits this.

Course of training

  • Steel construction: in a team, you assemble the chassis for machinery weighing many tons according to the production drawings.
  • Small parts: you learn how to handle technical drawings and work through the first small orders independently.
  • Welding robot: monitoring of complex workflows and programming of state-of-the-art welding robots.

Requirements

  • Dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination (e.g. when fastening metal components with screws or rivets or setting of welding points and seams)
  • Care (e.g. for precision cutting or sheet metal plates)
  • Technical comprehension (e.g. when maintaining machines and plants)
  • Spatial sense (e.g. for production of workpieces according to technical drawings)
  • Good physical constitution and a head for heights (e.g. work on scaffold and cranes)
As a trainee at KLEEMANN, every day new and varied challenges have to be met.
