The focus is on efficiency, automation and low emissions
Joseph Vögele AG is attending Asia’s biggest construction machinery trade fair to present new Compact Class pavers and models from both the Universal and Highway classes. These pavers feature high output, low-emission drive technology and simple operation. The market leader is also exhibiting cost-effective paving and grade and slope control technologies with its products SprayJet and Navitronic Plus 3D control.
Vögele is premiering two products at this year’s Bauma China, as well as exhibiting a varied selection from its product range: the new SUPER 1380i and SUPER 1383i Compact Class pavers deliver pave widths of 0.75 to 5 m, simple operation with ErgoBasic and an attractive price/benefit ratio. The representative of the Universal Class, the SUPER 1680-3 Li, can manage pave widths of up to 8 m and is equipped with the expanded ErgoPlus operating concept as well as extra convenience functions. Vögele is furthermore presenting two extremely powerful models: the SUPER 1880 Li Universal Class paver, which achieves laydown rates of up to 1,000 t/h and pave widths up to 10 m, and the Highway Class representative, the SUPER 2180-3 Li with a laydown rate of up to 1,100 t/h and pave widths of up to 13 m.
All the paver models meet Vögele‘s exacting quality standards are designed specifically for the requirements of customers and users in China: their rugged material handling components allow them to pave both asphalt materials and abrasive materials such as cement-treated base (CTB) efficiently and to a high standard. The large material hopper of the SUPER 1680-3 Li, the SUPER 1880 Li and the SUPER 2180-3 Li facilitate rapid material feed and paving without interruptions. The material hopper is also designed so that it can be supplied with material by all types of truck popular in China.
The Vögele pavers are equipped with a powerful diesel engine with particularly low emissions and economical fuel consumption: pollutants are reduced to a significant extent by the effective exhaust emissions after-treatment involving a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) combined with an intelligent electronic engine control system. As a result, the Vögele pavers comply with the NR4 emission standards and have “i” added to their names; this stands for “intelligent emission control” and refers to efficient diesel engines in which the latest technology guarantees particularly low emissions. Like all pavers in the “Dash 3” generation, the SUPER 1680-3 Li and the SUPER 2180-3 Li are also equipped with the Vögele EcoPlus low-emissions package which further reduces emissions and can cut fuel consumption by as much as 25%.
Apart from the latest paver models, Vögele will also be showing pioneering technologies for automated grade and slope control at Bauma China: the patented Navitronic Plus 3D control system allows grade and slope, position and direction to be controlled fully automatically. The system uses the paver’s control system to intervene in paver steering directly and guide the paver on the basis of the planned route. Navitronic Plus works with a virtual reference and with existing survey data, so there is no need for time-consuming, costly tensioning of wires; the overall complexity of surveying is considerably reduced. The open interface means that customers can connect existing 3Dpositioning systems from mainstream manufacturers.
Vögele will be using SprayJet technology at Bauma China to demonstrate how surface courses can be resurfaced especially quickly and cheaply: the SUPER 1800-3i SprayJet spray paver completes spraying on of the bitumen emulsion and paving of the asphalt course in a single pass. On the one hand this increases quality – construction vehicles are unable to damage the film of binding agent – and on the other, it increases efficiency: pave speed is three to five times higher than in conventional asphalt paving. The small layer thickness of 1.2 to 2 cm means that much lower costs are incurred for milling and material, nor is there any need for intensive modification of kerbs. A further benefit is the modular paver concept: construction companies can deploy the SUPER 1800-3i SprayJet both as a spray paver for paving thin overlays and as a standard paver for paving conventional surface and binder courses.
