Cost-efficient and ecologically-optimised road construction processes are becoming increasingly important around the globe. WIRTGEN GROUP products for road construction, the mining and processing of raw materials and the recycling of construction materials are not only extremely eco-friendly because of their innovative and efficient machine technology. With our Wirtgen Group Production Systems, we offer end-to-end process solutions that cater for a wide range of project requirements. At the same time, we will continue our work on the digitalisation and connectivity of our production systems.
Cold recycling allows 100% of the removed road material to be reused – on site and in one operation. With the help of a paving unit, the recycled mix is then directly repaved. This reduces fuel consumption by 10 – 12 liters per ton of paving material. The paving screed then consolidates the pavement into a compact layer immediately after paving. This is how damaged roads are transformed into durable base layers.
View ApplicationThe total energy consumption of cold recycling is significantly lower than all other structural rehabilitation methods!

Mobile crushing and screening plants process recycled materials into classified final grain sizes that can be used as aggregates for concrete and for asphalt base, binder, and surface layers in road and building construction. In order to produce a high-quality final product, the metal contained in building rubble is separated from the rock. But the metal isn’t simply disposed of, but also reused. This makes it possible to completely recycle and reuse the materials. Throughout the entire process, the unit operates at the highest level of environmental friendliness – fuel consumption is significantly reduced thanks to an intelligent diesel-electric drive system, and noise and exhaust emissions are kept to a minimum. An external power supply also supplies downstream machines such as stockpile belts or screening plants.
View ApplicationMinor damage to the surface layer does not have to be completely removed. Paving thin layers hot is an environmentally friendly method of surface layer rehabilitation. In this process, fine milling is first carried out to remove the damaged surface. Afterwards, a bitumen emulsion is sprayed on using SprayJet technology and the new asphalt surfacing is paved in a single operation. This saves 50% of the paving material and reduces emissions by the same amount. Finally, oscillation is used to gently compact the new asphalt surface layer, as it requires fewer passes, thereby reducing not only fuel consumption and construction time, but also noise emissions and vibrations in the vicinity of the job site. Completing the job faster also reduces fuel consumption.
View ApplicationThe asphalt cycle is of vital importance in industrially developed countries. By not simply removing the asphalt and paving new asphalt, it is possible to cut costs, save materials and reduce the associated costs, and minimize the additional environmental burden. Asphalt recycling is therefore an essential part of the asphalt cycle. With its innovative products and perfectly compatible processes, the WIRTGEN GROUP sets standards in asphalt recycling.
View ApplicationEnergy-saving potential is one of the key drivers, and reduced-temperature asphalt is a road construction material that is currently becoming increasingly popular as a result. Technologies and solutions from the WIRTGEN GROUP are the perfect response to this trend – and help ensure that the production and processing of lower-temperature mixes can be carried out virtually in the conventional manner.
Learn MoreSurface miners are extremely versatile and multitalented. They mine raw materials such as coal, bauxite, or salt separate from intermediates. This results in products of the highest purity that can either be loaded directly from the surface miner onto trucks or loaded from windrows at a later time. During mining operations, WIRTGEN surface miners also produce level surfaces that act as stable roadways to ensure that the material can be transported quickly and safely. The use of surface miners also eliminates the need for drilling and blasting, making mining operations possible even in the immediate vicinity of residential areas. Environmental impacts such as vibrations, dust, and noise are significantly reduced while safety at the mine increases.
