InLine Pave

"Hot on hot" paving with InLine Pave

InLine Pave is an innovative paving method, particularly for "hot on hot" paving of compact asphalt pavements. InLine Pave machine technology also enables conventional construction work to be carried out economically and to a high standard too, however.

One line with three machines

InLine Pave means that all the machines work one behind the other, in a line. An InLine Pave line consists of three machines:

An MT 3000-3i Offset material feeder, that alternately feeds binder course and surface course.
A SUPER 2100-3i IP paver for binder course with an AB 600 TP2 Plus extending screed, that achieves extremely high precompaction.
A SUPER 1800-3i with wider crawler track sprockets, a water sprayer, and a heat-insulated extra material hopper for paving the surface course.

InLine Pave achieves outstanding monolithic interlocking of the binder and surface courses. At the same time, VÖGELE high compaction allows for a clear separation of the layers. The binder course is laid thicker, and the surface course - at 2 to 3 cm - thinner than conventionally.

Standard production machine technology

InLine Pave is based on the use of standard production machinery modified for "hot on hot" paving. This means that contractors can also use each individual InLine Pave machine for conventional construction work. This substantially increases the productive utilization of the contractor’s machine pool, and enhances profitability.

The VÖGELE technology also offers an advantage when it comes to transport: The dimensions and weights of the machines are such that transportation to the job site is made easy.

Maximum evenness

Thanks to VÖGELE high-compaction technology installed in the screed, the binder course reaches densities of over 98%. In the InLine Pave process, the surface course is paved “hot on hot“ on a binder layer which, in terms of evenness and density, is on a par with a binder course compacted in the conventional way.

Use of conventional rollers

Medium-weight rollers can follow right behind the paver for surface course to produce the final density. VÖGELE high-compaction technology attains such a high degree of precompaction that the number of roller passes required for the final density is reduced substantially. Oscillation compaction technology is ideal for this application.

Clear separation of layers

InLine Pave achieves excellent monolithic interlocking of binder and surface courses. At the same time, VÖGELE high compaction allows for a clear separation of the layers.

High capacity utilization through use of machines close to standard design

The material feeder and the paver for surface course can be used for conventional paving jobs at any time, without a need for conversion. The transfer module of the SUPER 2100-3i IP can be mounted or demounted in just a few hours. As a result, every machine of the InLine Pave train is available for conventional paving applications at all times.

Placing base courses with the SUPER 2100-3i IP

The SUPER 2100-3i IP with the AB 600 High Compaction Screed in the TP2 Plus version can also be used as a stand-alone paver for placing high-density base courses. Paving can be carried out in a single layer, which saves time and money.

Easy operation for high process reliability

The operation of all InLine Pave machines is to a large extent identical with ordinary paving jobs. When it comes to grade and slope control, the paving teams can fall back on the knowledge they have gained from jobs using conventional VÖGELE equipment.
