Kleemann technology for an exceptional set-up

The Mohawk Valley Mining company operates a limestone quarry. Its unique location, directly on the Alabama-Florida border, presents some special challenges. These were overcome by using a mobile impact crusher in combination with two coarse screening plants from Kleemann.

Since May 2022, Mohawk Valley Mining has been operating a quarrying company in Alabama. The young company supplies high-quality limestone products for road construction, and trades in larger stone formats. The location in the border region of two states brings a unique feature that presents the company with a real challenge: Alabama and Florida have different specifications for grain size and composition of the processed material for road construction. With this in mind, Managing Director Joey Rutkowski and his team had to design a set-up in which different specifications could be efficiently achieved.

A great solution thanks to good collaboration

Joey Rutkowski was faced with many questions when planning the plant: Which crushers are most suitable? What is the best way to process the moist, sticky limestone material? “We approached Kleemann during our planning process,” says Joey Rutkowski. He goes on to share how pleased he is with the Kleemann team and their commitment to the project. “As a young company, it was great for us to be able to benefit from the expertise of the specialists on site when planning the entire process.”

The set-up developed with the experts is as follows: Two course screening plants – the MOBISCREEN MSS 802i EVO and the MOBISCREEN MS 15 Z – produce the material that meets Florida’s specifications. The oversize grain is then processed by the MOBIREX MR 110i EVO2 impact crusher to meet the requirements for Alabama.

“This is a very unusual story,” laughs Joey Rutkowski, “which made it all the more important for us to find experts at Kleemann who could work with us to solve the issue.” With the mobile impact crusher MOBIREX MR 110i EVO2 in combination with the two screening plants, Mohawk Valley Mining now has the reliable plants it needs to process the challenging limestone material. The option of purchasing a used predecessor model of the current screening plant MOBISCREEN MSS 802i EVO, the MOBISCREEN MS 15 Z, was also interesting from a financial perspective.

Focus on efficiency and user-friendliness

Also cost effective: Low fuel consumption of the entire set-up. The company was impressed with the short training period required for the largely inexperienced employees. “The crushing plant’s SPECTIVE operating concept is very intuitive. This saves time and minimizes errors,” explains Rutkowski.

It isn't only SPECTIVE that makes operation easy – but also the many well-thought-out details, the good accessibility to all components, and the automatic operation of the MSS 802i EVO, with which all belts can be folded in the correct order at the push of a button.

“We are definitely on the right track.”

By opting for the mobile solutions from Kleemann Mohawk Valley Mining is now ideally positioned for success. “Our collaboration with Kleemann gives us confidence that we will be successful long term,” Rutkowski sums up. “We are definitely on the right track.”
