VC compactors can perform two jobs with just one machine: They not only crush stone but compact it, too. And they are able to perform these tasks extremely efficiently while also being environmentally friendly. HAMM has two such specially equipped compactor models in its portfolio: the HC 250i C VC (Tier 4/EU Stage V) and the HC 250 C VC (Tier 3). The "VC" in their type designation stands for "vibration crusher”.
The secret to the VC compactors' performance is the drum. It is equipped with 126 toolholders, which can easily be fitted with a variety of tools thanks to a quick-change system – all without the need for any special tools. There are currently two types of cutting tool available: The standard cutting tool is suitable for low-abrasive mixed soils and stone with low compressive strength. The round-shank cutting tool with carbide tip and armoring is ideal for working with hard stone and highly abrasive materials.
The other components of the VC compactors are also designed for demanding tasks involving stone and are therefore particularly robust. On these compactors, the entire front vehicle with suspension, the 3-point articulation and the underbody are reinforced. VC compactors are also equipped with EM tires and a reinforced drum drive as standard, achieving a gradeability of up to 60%. In addition, both models are equipped with HAMMTRONIC, the electronic machine control system. To enable the VC compactors to be transported easily, special raceways have been fitted on the drums.
