Tandem roller with Track Assist

Compaction control and documentation of the future: Track Assist and WPT Compacting

New app for drivers and web-based solution in the John Deere Operations Center™

At Bauma, Hamm is unveiling the further development of the previous Smart Doc app in the form of the free-of-charge Track Assist app. At the same time, it is presenting Wirtgen Group Performance Tracker (WPT) Compacting, a web-based solution in the John Deere Operations Center™ for documenting and reporting on compaction in asphalt construction and earthworks. Both will be available from autumn 2025.

Track Assist – display unit for the driver

Track Assist, the free-of-charge Android app, is the next phase in the development of the Smart Doc app and offers drivers an improved driving experience in the cab. Using a smartphone or tablet, Track Assist informs the operator about key parameters such as the number of double passes, temperature limits and the degree of compaction. In the next stage of development, Track Assist will become a fully fledged assistance system that allows the operator to compare compaction targets with the actual results. The connection to the paver also allows valuable data from the paving process to be used. Another useful function is the display of recommended reversing points in the cold or hot asphalt area. These functions actively support the operator in their daily work and contribute to more homogeneous compaction results while simultaneously reducing the number of double passes, consumption and emissions.

WPT Compacting – a web-based solution in the John Deere Operations Center™ for site managers and foremen

In conjunction with Track Assist, Wirtgen Group Performance Tracker Compacting is being unveiled by the roller manufacturer – it is a web-based solution in the John Deere Operations Center™ for monitoring, documenting, analysing and reporting on a construction site. Interface solutions, such as VETA Export, are also available here, which is particularly important for the North American market. Another new feature will be machine communication. It enables data exchange between several rollers and, in the future, between the paver and the roller. WPT Compacting also enables data exchange between the machine and cloud application.

Greater efficiency, better planning, improved resource conservation

While Track Assist offers advantages for the operator during compaction itself, the integration of construction site data and compaction parameters into the John Deere Operations Center™ opens up new possibilities for the site management team in particular. The centralised data management allows users to access the relevant information anytime, anywhere. With the real-time display of the machine status, site managers can also respond proactively to potential challenges and optimise operations. Thanks to powerful analysis tools, the John Deere Operations Center™ also provides precise insights into the production data and machine performance of the rollers used. The integration of various Wirtgen Group machines and technologies ensures a seamless flow of information, which increases overall productivity in the construction site process. In the long term, therefore, WPT Compacting helps to increase efficiency and reduce the consumption of resources in road construction and earthworks.
